Hanc igitur

February 12, 2007

Amen.

Graciously accept, then, we beseech You, O Lord, this service of our worship and that of all Your household. Provide that our days be spent in Your peace, save us from everlasting damnation, and cause us to be numbered in the flock you have chosen. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Now wait just one minute. That priest has his “back to the people” and he was obviously saying the Mass in….Latin! How on earth could those poor servicemen understand anything going on at that Mass, especially when they can’t “join in?”

Just kidding Father. God bless the Old Rite, and God bless the old ways. May they all return soon!

This really hurts my heart and kills my spirit I love my community and attending mass to hear the word of God and living the message tell me how you can live it if you can’t even understand it. This is a reply to the preva2 response.

I think it makes sense to allow the Old Rite but certainly not abandon the Mass in English.

If Catholics were forced to only have the Latin Mass — and again, I think it should be available — there would be an awful lot of crying children at Mass. Apparently alot of crying grownups, too.

    Isn’t this a little over-dramatic?

As an exceedingly astute friend of mine has said: “Offense taken is not prima facie evidence of offense given.”

Thank the Lord Almighty, that since 1969, we’ve had a Mass that finally makes sense. And to think that since the 4th or 5th century, that Roman Catholics around the world (and the thousands of saints, and millions of converts) were too stupid to understand anything at the “Old Mass!”

Don’t you just love the “Spirit of Vatican II?”

Everyone feels things differently. And, everyone has the right to be deeply offended and hurt — though surely here no offense is intended here.

Look at Newton’s Law. You know, the one about there being an equal and opposite reaction for every action. If someone did not grow up with the “Old Rite” or has never experienced it, why should they embrace it?

To be cut off from what you love can be devastating. Surely people can understand that.

No not over-dramatic just someone concerned with the fact that there are people who want to go backwards and not forward in our church. Church is not only for worship but fellowship, this means with the laity and the priest we have worked so hard to build the beautiful community of St.Charles and I feel going backwards would only destroy it.

No offense taken but here is the prima facie.

I’ve experienced Mass in Latin, English, Polish, and Spanish, Holy Mass transcends language. ( I know this is an old thread but I had to weigh in!)

  11. I have no problem with the Latin Mass coming back,it should never have left, but we need to have the mass as was given to us after vatican11. One extreme does not over come another. Where does it help for people to be told that everything that has happen since Vatican 11 has no meaning. Will I go to hell if I beleive in Vatican 11?
