Adoremus Te, Christe

This year I edited a form of the Stations of the Cross which included Latin in order to continue reintroducing the sacred language to the parishioners. This was offered in the parish every Friday evening of Lent. Various parishioners led the devotion from week-to-week. Following the Via Crucis we enjoyed Supper replete with favorite Lenten recipes.

The Stations proceeded as follows:

God of power and mercy, in love you sent your Son that we might be cleansed of sin and live with you forever. Bless us as we gather to reflect on His suffering and death that we may learn from his example the way we should go. We ask this through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Stand to sing one of 14 verses of the Stabat Mater

Each Station is announced followed by a very brief reflection

Kneel for:

Adoremus Te, Christe, et benedicimus Tibi, quia per sanctum crucem Tuum redemisti mundum, qui passus es pro nobis! Domine, miserere nobis!

Stand and bow for:

V. Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto

R. Sicut erat in principio, et nunc et semper, et in secula seculorum.

Our Father | Hail Mary

V. Jesus Christ crucified.

R. Have mercy on us.

V. May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

R. Amen.
